The DESY Innovation Factory will be the center for ideas and innovations, company start-ups and new research opportunities in future-oriented sectors such as life sciences, new materials and quantum technologies. It promotes and fosters a culture of innovation on approx. 8,500 square meters and is therefore a central component and location for transfer activities and bridging research in Science City.
The opening of DESY Innovation Factory will take place in 2027.
The DESY Innovation Factory in the Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld
Directly on the research campus in the immediate vicinity of the experimental stations of the X-ray radiation source PETRA III and the DESY NanoLab, users have access to space for research. This is the first location of the DESY Innovation Factory.
The second site is located Innovationspark Altona on Vorhornweg in the north-west of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld, where established, research-related companies will settle. Since fall 2022, the DESY Innovation Factory has been offering a makerspace on campus in the DESY Innovation Village, where users from the deep and high-tech sector can create their first prototypes.
