Four areas characterize the Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld:
In the quarters at Volkspark, a mixed neighborhood for studying and teaching, living in various forms, social infrastructure and leisure is being created - embedded in a future-oriented mobility concept with excellent public transport connections. The area stretches from the current trotting track to the future A7 freeway overpass to the west.
The Campus West expands the spatial perimeter to include facilities of the University of Hamburg and other renowned institutes such as the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter. At the same time, newly linked public spaces are being created on a sustainable and climate-friendly campus that creates the best conditions for exchange and innovation. A new axis will be created across the Luruper Chaussee to the campus area in the "Quartiere am Volkspark" and will connect the two development areas.
The DESY Kernareal has been an internationally outstanding address for basic research for 65 years. This is where the success story of Science City began.
The Innovationspark Altona in close proximity to DESY Kernareal and Campus West is a magnet for start-ups and scale-ups in technology and research at Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld.
