With world-leading accelerator-based X-ray light sources such as the European XFEL and FLASH X-ray lasers, the PETRA III synchrotron radiation source and other top-class research facilities, the fundamentals of matter are being deciphered. At the same time, the research findings are being applied to issues such as health, digitalization, AI and the development of sustainable materials. In the coming years, a new generation of science buildings will be created for excellent, often interdisciplinary work. The existing structures will be expanded into a sustainable campus with a high quality of stay.
