Hamburg Invest is the one-stop agency for relocations and investments from Germany and abroad in Hamburg as well as the central partner for Hamburg's business community in all areas of business development. The aim of the municipal group of companies is to induce investment and secure and create new jobs at the location. HIE Hamburg Invest Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG (HIE) was founded in October 2017 and is intended to develop and sell commercial and industrial properties in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg on a permanent basis or grant them under heritable building rights. It is the owner of the land.

As part of the site development process, the district authorities of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg worked together with HIE to create appropriate planning law where required. At the same time, the sites are being developed and offered on the market by HIW Hamburg Invest Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH to companies wishing to relocate.

For the Innovationspark Altona HIE's primary goal is to attract innovative young and established companies in order to retain and create as many new and high-quality jobs as possible in Hamburg, so that Hamburg is further strengthened as a future location for innovation.

Incubator for innovation

The tecHHub Altona has been open since summer 2024

The tecHHub Hamburg is part of the development plan currently being drawn up for the Innovationspark Altona. In the immediate vicinity, the technology and start-up center DESY Innovation Factory II is planned for the site, which is scheduled for completion by 2027.

Together, these initiatives will meet the current and future needs of young technology companies and research institutions in the life sciences sector and strengthen Hamburg's position as a leading location for innovation and economic growth.

"With the tecHHub Hamburg, we are creating an attractive environment for start-ups and young innovative companies, which not only find a professional home here, but also settle in the highly attractive environment of DESY and Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld with a large infrastructure offering."
