Living in the city of knowledge

All of the apartments at Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld are being built in the quarters at Volkspark just a few minutes' walk from the research campus and Innovationspark Altona . The neighborhoods at Volkspark consist of three sub-neighborhoods. They will be linked to the green open spaces and existing neighborhoods all around and will have excellent public transport connections. This will make Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld one of the most attractive residential locations in Hamburg.

In fall 2024, the competition for urban development and open space planning for the "Quartiere am Volkspark" was successfully concluded with the Danish architecture firm COBE as the winner. The functional planning is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. The first property tenders are expected in 2027.

Sophisticated concepts

The Free and Hanseatic City is seizing the opportunity to set the course for the housing of the future, particularly in lighthouse locations such as this one.
For example, it is focusing on the high architectural and sustainable quality of the buildings and a variety of housing types with a high proportion of subsidized housing. Depending on the project, other aspects may be added, such as the development of public first floors, the integration
of a day care center or meeting place and the creation of community spaces. The requirements are incorporated into the tenders,

This means that it is not only the most economical offer that is decisive for the awarding of land. Well thought-out concepts are just as important.
Various partners from the construction and real estate industry, education and social services as well as retail and gastronomy often work together to achieve this. Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld GmbH (SCG) is available as a central point of contact and coordinator for all interested parties. Past experience shows that the joint effort is worthwhile: the successful realization of more challenging projects, particularly in residential construction, provides all those involved with an overall result that is sustainable in the long term.
