Between Meadows and Science – Insect Diversity on the Green Campus

A slender beetle with very long antennae is crawling on the bushy blossom of a meadow flower.
A green longhorn beetle is collecting nectar from a purple knapweed.

Opening of the photo exhibition

Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Science Experience Center. The event will feature photographs by Jan Tolkiehn.

Amid meadows, hedgerows, and wetlands, an astonishingly diverse array of wildlife has flourished on the grounds of the European XFEL. Jan Tolkiehn’s macro photographs bring this hidden world to light and offer new perspectives on a local ecosystem right on our doorstep.

The exhibition runs through December 12, 2026.
