In close cooperation with research institutions, universities and the start-up scene, it supports innovation and technology transfer with various means.
The BWFG also performs fundamental and overarching ministerial tasks for the city in the areas of gender equality, gender diversity and anti-discrimination . The state commissioners for Jewish life and the fight against and prevention of anti-Semitism as well as for the equality of people with disabilities also belong to the authority. The BWFG is also responsible for maintaining the Hamburg Cancer Registry (HKR), including the corresponding publications.
