Many other universities also work there.
And many other facilities work there.
The research campus is getting bigger and bigger.
Today, the research campus is already an important part of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld.

They are making Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld better and better.

- Authorities
- municipal companies
- Universities
- other facilities.
Learning locations outside of school
Pupils can experiment at Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld .
There are laboratories especially for students.
Students can learn special things there.

Research and teaching
PETRA IV: New X-ray light for research
The DESY research center has an X-ray light source.
The X-ray light source is called PETRA III.
The X-ray light source is a particle accelerator.
The particle accelerator is set to become even better.
The particle accelerator will then be PETRA IV will be called PETRA IV.
PETRA IV should be even faster than PETRA III.
And PETRA IV is expected to deliver even better results than PETRA III.
PETRA IV should also require less energy.
HAFUN
The University of Hamburg has a special laboratory.
The laboratory is called the Hamburg Fundamental Interactions Laboratory.
The short form is: HAFUN.
Various groups work in the laboratory.
The groups work in the following areas:
- Particle physics
- Astro-Physics
- Mathematical physics.
The University of Hamburg is a university of excellence.
This means that the university is particularly good at research.
And the university has 5 important areas for research.
The groups at HAFUN are also an important part of:
- the Quantum Universe Cluster of Excellence
- of the MIN faculty
- the physics department.
