There will soon be a new location in Hamburg.

The location is called: Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld.

The place has:

  • Leisure activities.

There are various parts of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld . 

The parts are called: Quarters

Every neighborhood is different.

However, the neighborhoods should still fit together well.

And the neighborhoods should fit in well with the city as a whole.

Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld has 4 important districts:

Quartiere am Volkspark

The Quarters at Volkspark do not yet exist.

The area extends from the Bahrenfeld trotting track to the A7 highway.

The Volkspark neighborhoods will exist in this area in the future. They are neighborhoods for living and leisure. 

That means:

  • Students and teachers can live there in the future
  • Families can live there in the future
  • Entrepreneurs and employees can live there in the future
  • there will be many different apartments
  • there will be kindergartens and schools
  • there will be sport
  • there will be lots of greenery 

There is also a mobility concept.

This means that it will be easy to travel by bus and train.

Campus West

The Campus West is a quarter for science.

For example for

  • the University of Hamburg.

But Campus West is also there for others from the world of science. For example for:

  • the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter.

Campus West is not yet complete.


It is sustainable and climate-friendly.

This means that Campus West is good for nature.

And Campus West is good for the climate.

The rooms are open to the public.

This means that everyone can go into the rooms.

The rooms are good for research and learning.

There will be a new road.

The road will connect Campus West with the Volkspark neighborhoods. 

The new building will be erected in the city center and will modernize the urban landscape.

DESY Kernareal

The DESY Kernareal is a quarter for science. The quarter has been around for a long time.

That means: For 65 years 

There is basic research there.

Basic research means:
You want to know more about the world.

That's why we do experiments.

The experiments are very important for science.

The DESY Kernareal is a very important place for science.

The town is also known internationally.

This is where Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld began.

Innovationspark Altona

The Innovationspark Altona is a quarter for companies. The companies 

are start-ups and scale-ups from technology and research.

Start-ups are new companies.

Scale-ups are companies that are getting bigger.

The Innovationspark Altona has been in existence since 2025 and the district continues to grow.

This means that new buildings and companies are being added.
