The mysterious world of quantum mechanics at the DESY Science Café

Even after a hundred years, quantum mechanics is still a challenge for our intuitive view of the world. Many predictions of quantum mechanics contradict our usual understanding of reality: for example, the mysterious action at a distance, in which particles appear to influence each other immediately over a distance of kilometers. However, these properties actually exist and can be tested in the laboratory.

In this Science Café, we will enter the world of the tiniest particles and their strange laws. We will understand how the predictions of quantum mechanics can be tested and what possibilities this opens up for the future.

This Science Café is a hybrid event, so our guests have the choice of participating live on the DESY campus or via Zoom. We would be delighted to welcome as many guests as possible live!
