Presentation of the first drafts for the "Quartiere am Volkspark"

Invitation to the opening and presentation of the designs on February 15, 2024 from 6 to 9 p.m. and to the exhibition from February 16 - 18 at Infocenter Science City

Background

In the Bahrenfeld district, the "Quartiere am Volkspark" are being built on approx. 55 hectares as part of Science City.

The competitive dialog for the "Quartiere am Volkspark" started in autumn 2023. Six planning teams qualified for the first phase.The teams developed ideas for the site from October to December 2023. The framework conditions and specifications were defined in advance by Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld GmbH in consultation with various authorities and other stakeholders.

In addition, people from the neighborhood had the opportunity on 7 October 2013 to help the planning teams get to know the site and give them tips from the neighborhood's perspective.

The committee meeting will take place on 05.02.24, in which a selection committee made up of experts and representatives of the citizenship and district will discuss the planning teams' designs and decide which three designs will move on to the second phase and be processed further.

Normally, such a committee meeting is not open to the public for people from the neighborhood. This is different for the "Quartiere am Volkspark" competition: a district delegation accompanies the entire process as an expert and takes part in the committee meeting in this role.

Presentation and exhibition of the interim results

From 15 to 18.02.24, the three designs of the planning teams, which will be further processed, will be exhibited to the public.

The exhibition will kick off with the opening event on February 15 from 6 pm. As part of the opening, the three planning teams will present their designs digitally alongside an introduction to the "Quartiere am Volkspark" planning process. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to view the designs on site.
